SVL’s approach to sustainability covers our environmental impact, our workforce practices and our product. We run on a zero discharge and zero coal policy, recycle over 2,850 KL of wastewater every day and generate 23 MW of renewable energy across the Group.
Sustainability in garment manufacturing is no longer optional for brands selling into Europe, the UK, North America and increasingly other markets. Buyers face growing pressure from their own customers, their investors and regulators to demonstrate that their supply chain operates responsibly.
SVL’s sustainability credentials are not a marketing exercise. They are the result of specific certifications, regular third-party audits and operational decisions that have cost us money but that we believe are the right way to run a manufacturing business. Our Higg Index score stands at 59% globally.
Built for EU, UK and North American compliance requirements.
WRAP, SMETA and GRS audits, not self-declarations.
Our facility operates on a zero discharge and zero coal policy. We do not discharge untreated effluent, and we have removed coal from our energy mix entirely.
Four operational pillars, each backed by installed capacity and audited processes.
We operate 3 Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) and 4 Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), together recycling more than 2,850 KL of wastewater every single day. Treated water is reused, reducing our draw on fresh water sources.
Our biomass boiler runs on bio-waste fuel instead of coal, cutting carbon emissions significantly. Across the Group, 6 solar plants generate 18 MW and 5 wind turbines a further 5 MW at our spinning, weaving, process and denim units.
Seamless knitting is inherently a low-waste process. Garments are knitted in a single piece without cutting fabric panels, so fabric waste is significantly lower than in cut-and-sew manufacturing. Leftover plastic and e-waste go to authorised recyclers.
Our FLAINOX tube dyeing process uses REACH, MRSL and MSDS-approved chemicals and reduces water, chemical and energy consumption compared with conventional dyeing.
A manufacturing facility is only as good as the people who run it. At SVL, our 763 employees are the reason our products are consistent and our audits are passed.
All employees are paid at or above the legally mandated minimum wage, on time and in full, every month.
We comply with legal requirements on working hours and overtime. Overtime is voluntary and compensated at the required rate.
Our facility operates to the safety requirements verified under WRAP, recognised with the Government of Rajasthan State Safety Award in 2021 and 2022.
SVL does not employ child labour or use any form of forced, bonded or compulsory labour. Verified under WRAP and SMETA audits.
For buyers with sustainability commitments in their product range, SVL offers GRS-certified recycled fibre options with full transaction certificate documentation. The sustainable fibres we work with include:
